It's Christmas Eve. Marie receives a nutcracker doll, dressed as a soldier. During the night, the little soldier and the other dolls come to life. And under Marie's eyes, the Nutcracker, freed from the curse that had been placed on him, becomes a very charming prince who takes her with him.
Nutcracker, from ballet to children's book
Originally orchestrated by Tchaikovsky and choreographed by Ivanov, the enchanting ballet of The Nutcracker has passed through the ages with success. Since 1954, the New York City Ballet has represented George Balachine's version. Valeria Docampo revisits this great classic. She offers an illustrated version which marvelously sublimates this dreamlike story, with sumptuous ballroom decorations, a gigantic Christmas tree and other enchantments.
