Here is the fictionalized portrait of a great mathematician, precursor of computer science. Daughter of the famous poet Lord Byron and a mother who loves mathematics, Ada had a romantic destiny. Raised in good English society, she suffered very early from atrocious illnesses which confined her to bed... time that she took advantage of to immerse herself in learning mathematics.
After meeting the mathematician Charles Babbage, she worked with him on a calculating machine and translated scientific texts... At the end of her life, she invented the notion of variables and loops, which would be used much later by computer programmers around the world.
She died of cancer at the age of 36, in 1852. In 1978, the name Ada was given after her to one of the computer languages developed in the United States between 1977 and 1983 at CII-Honeywell Bull .
