Africville is a very small community that actually existed in the 1840s, in the Halifax area, Nova Scotia.
As a young girl visits this historic site, she recalls the stories she has heard in her family.
What was the community like? Brightly colored houses housed in the hill; fields where boys played football; a pond where children were rafting; fishing in abundance; immense bonfires... The young girl comes out of her reverie; she visits the current historic park and the sundial where her great-grandmother's name is carved in stone, and celebrates a summer day at the annual Africville reunion.
