Tomoko, a sensitive and curious little girl, receives a maple wood Kokeshi doll from her aunt. She adores it and it becomes her lifelong friend. But one stormy morning, she loses it. Everyone comforts her, assuring her that a good soul somewhere is probably taking care of her kokeshi. Years later, as she walks past a pastry shop, Tomoko finds her friend Kokeshi stunned in the window. She enters the shop to find out more...
